      Vitamin D – A Special Vitamin

What is Vitamin D or Calcitriol?

Vitamin D is a powerful steroid hormone in charge of more than 3000 genes that regulate the entire body, in addition to acting in the calcium metabolism, increasing its absorption and fixation in the bones.

Calcitriol, is the active form of vitamin D which is very important for the body. The absence of this vital hormone opens the door to a number of different diseases such as rheumatoid arthurites, multiple sclerosis or MS, different types of cancer, cardiovascular diseases and autoimmune disorders like lupus. In reality, vitamin D plays a significant role in the prevention of different pathologies.

Calcitriol is also one of the greatest nectars of the human body. It is essential for balance and organic homeostasis, activating various processes of synthesis of several molecules as well as encouraging harmony and the order of physiological processes. Calcitriol practically acts on every cell in the body having a much wider effect than simply absorbing calcium and increasing its fixation in the bones.

      Why Vitamin D3 is Important?

Vitamin D3 helps in the prevention of different types of cancer due to the fact that it prevents the activation of so-called oncogenes which is a mutated gene with the potential to transform a cell into a tumour cell.

Vitamin D is tremendously important for the cardiovascular health as it helps preventing heart attacks as well as regulation of the blood pressure through of the optimum expression of nitric oxide.

Vitamin D is important for immunity, muscle health, heart health, different types of cancer, fertility problems, cognitive dysfunctions as well mental health problems.

Low levels of vitamin D can also result in osteopenia and osteoporosis. Osteopenia, is a health condition that occurs when the bone density is lower that the expected when evaluated against the patients’ age. This condition, also increases the possibility of bone fractures more frequently.

Father, studies do shows that vitamin D is fundamental for the prevention of a serious disease including multiple sclerosis. Vitamin D deficiency opens the door to the emergence of this disease which manifests itself with demyelination of the nervous system.

Vitamin D is also indispensable for the immune system as it empowers the immune system to be competent enough to act in the defence of tissue integrity, being strong and agile in the fight against bacteria and other microbes; and effective in distinguishing the proteins that are from the body itself so that they are not attacked by white blood cells.

Vitamin D acts on all body cells inactivating the so-called oncogenes. Hence, supplementation of this extremely important vitamin is crucial, especially in countries with little sun exposure.

What You Also Need to Know

The vitamin D on its own is unable to perform calcium metabolism satisfactorily. So, taken on its own, vitamin D increases the amount of calcium to be absorbed, which consequently increases the amount of calcium in the blood. However, two more molecules are necessary for the calcium to be directed to the right place, namely the bone. So, when supplementing vitamin D, it is necessary to take vitamin K2 and magnesium at the same time. Magnesium is essential to counterbalance the calcium. When we supplement vitamin D without magnesium, the levels of calcium in the blood increases and it can have negative effects. For example, it can cause cardiac arrhythmias and muscle spasms. Furthermore, calcium can be placed in the wrong places, such as in the arteries and veins, making them stiff. Calcium can also form kidney stones and accumulate in the joints promoting the development of arthritis and osteoarthritis.

With the regards to vitamin K2, it is vital for the metabolism of calcium. The vitamin K2 pulls out the calcium from inappropriate places and direct it to the right place. So, vitamin K2 puts the calcium in the right: in the bone! Therefore, when we make vitamin D, vitamin K2 and magnesium, we absorb three extraordinarily molecules for the proper function of the body as well as avoiding side effects.

Vitamin D should not be taken on its own!
